We had cheeseburgers for dinner the other night with the condiment bottles sitting on the table between us all. As I sat there enjoying my meal, my eye caught the Heinz mustard bottle perched right in front of my plate. What a classic label! It had gold trim and a faint serif on the font. There was something reminiscent of the olden days about the whole look of the product. Then, I noticed a subtle phrase right under the words “YELLOW MUSTARD”. It said – get ready for this… – “A common condiment, done UNCOMMONLY WELL.”
I was so moved by the phrase that I told my husband right then that I was going to incorporate the Heinz mustard inspiration into my next Monomers Moments article. He laughed and asked if he could be mentioned in each one of my articles. Challenge accepted… I thought.
Then, in a very serious tone he looked at me and said, “Don’t tell me… you’re going to say that Teckrez monomers are common chemicals, done UNCOMMONLY WELL.” I jumped up from the table and declared, “Precisely!”
As I sat down and returned my gaze to the bottle, one last detail stood out. In small red lettering, right under the brand name was printed “Est. 1869” – established over 150 years ago.
What a remarkable accomplishment for a brand to last well over a century. Did young Mr. Heinz ever imagine that in 2025, in homes all across the country at the evening dinner table – that people would be seeing his name and enjoying his product, long after he was gone. It’s impressive that people can build something bigger than themselves – build an enterprise of amazing team members and accomplish truly outstanding work that helps everyday people.
I believe each one of us at our respective businesses each day is doing the same thing. We’re moving our projects forward, whether we’re in sales, marketing, technology development, regulatory, operations – you name it. We all are responsible for taking our given talents and moving our enterprises forward, and in doing so, we’re moving our society forward.
Maybe, just maybe, one day our work will influence the lives of others, years down the road. It’s very empowering and humbling to think about it. Are we doing our work uncommonly well? Are we bringing our whole selves and best talents to work each day? I hope you are! I know we all at Teckrez are!
